There are places that after visiting them, you just don't understand how you haven't visited there earlier.

רק לא מזמן ביקרתי פעם ראשונה בראש הנקרה, מקום מדהים בכל מובן המילה. קרוב לגבול עם לבנון מתגלה מקום יפהפה המשקיף אל הים התיכון ועושה רק טוב על הלב, אבל ממש מתחתיכם תוכלו למצוא עולם שלם של נקרות - מערות שנוצרו בדרך טבעית בשל סדקים בסלע שהתרחבו במשך השנים בעקבות הים הגועש, גשמים ובעלי החיים באזור.

Not long ago I visited Rosh Hanikra for the first time, an amazing place in every sense of the word. Near the border with Lebanon you will find a place that overlooks the Mediterranean sea and just doing good on the heart, but right beneath you can find a whole world of grottos - caves created by nature due to cracks in the rock that expanded over the years following stormy sea, rains and animals in the area.
 

 

הוזמנתי לסקר את הנקרות ומה אגיד? מקום בלתי ייאמן. מקום כל כך יפה וכל כך מרשים שפשוט חובה לכל אחד לבוא ולראות.
הדרך העיקרית להגיע לנקרות היא לרדת ברכבל שהינו הרכבל התלול והקצר ביותר בעולם! מזל שמדובר בעניין של דקה שתיים כי לי יש פחד גבהים ורכבל זה משהו שלפעמים מלחיץ אותי. זה מחזיר אותי לתקופת הילדות שבה היינו עולים על הרכבל בלונה פארק תל אביב ואני הייתי כל כך פוחדת שהייתי אוחזת חזק חזק בעמוד שבאמצע הקרון.

I was invited to review the place and what can I say? Unbelievable place. Such a beautiful and impressive place that everyone must come and see.

In order to get to the grottos the main way is going down using the cable car which is the steepest and shortest cable car in the world! Luckily it is only a two minute ride, because I have a fear of heights and cable cars tend to stress me. It brings me back to the times when I was a child and we were going up to the cable car in the Luna Park in Tel Aviv and I was so scared that I used to hold on tight to the bar in the middle of the cable car.

 

הרכבל שיורד בזווית תלולה של 60 מעלות מוריד אתכם קרוב יותר אל הנקרות. במקום ישנו מיצג אור קולי המוצג ב-4 שפות: עברית, אנגלית, רוסית וערבית. ברגע שיורדים מהרכבל, הסדרן במקום שואל באיזה שפה אתם מדברים ולפי התשובה שלכם הוא מציע לכם אם ללכת לראות קודם את המיצג האור קולי או קודם לעבר הנקרות.

The cable car descends in a steep angle of 60 degrees and gets you closer to the grottos. There is an audiovisual display on site that is displayed in 4 languages: Hebrew, English, Russian and Arabic.

Once you get off the cable car, the usher asks what language you speak and according to your answer he guides you whether to watch the display first or go to the grottos first.

אנחנו הגענו בדיוק בזמן להקרנה בעברית, עברנו דרך מנהרה, שבה תוכלו גם לקנות לעצמכם שתייה ונשנושים, והגענו לחדר בו צפינו במיצג האור קולי המוצג על הסלע ואורכו כ-8 דקות. במיצג מגלים את היסטוריית המקום: יצירת הנקרות, הרכבת שנבנתה על ידי הבריטים, בעלי החיים הדרים באזור ועוד ועוד.

We arrived just in time to watch the Hebrew screening, we went through a tunnel, where there you can purchase drinks and snacks, and arrived to a room where we watched the 8 minutes audiovisual display displayed on a rock. In the display you will learn about the history of the place: how the grottos were created, the train that was built on site by the Brits, the animals that live in the area etc.

הסיור בנקרות עצמן הוא פשוט מדהים. ההליכה באזור אינה מתאימה לנכים עם כסא גלגלים, אולם מי שנתמך במקל יכול להיכנס ולהתרשם מכל הקסם הזה בזהירות רבה כי השבילים חלקלקים.
אורך המסלול בתוך הנקרות הוא כ-200 מטר, ופשוט מדובר בחוויה מרהיבה! לעמוד באחת הפינות ולראות איך הגלים מתנפצים (זהירות לא להירטב), לשמוע את הים הגועש ופשוט לחוות את הטבע בשיא פועלו בלי שום הפרעות.
הטיול בנקרות רוב הזמן באזור סגור מהשמש הקופחת, כך שתוכלו להנות מטיול לראש הנקרה גם ביום קיץ חם וניתן להזמין לקבוצות בתיאום מראש סיורים ליליים שכן הנקרות מוארות.

The tour in the caves is just amazing. The walk in the area doesn't suit handicaps with wheelchairs, however if you only need the support of a walking stick then you can enter and enjoy this magical place very carefully as the trails are slippery.

The length of the route is about 200 meters, and it is just a spectacular experience! Standing in one on the spots and seeing the shattering waves (careful not to get wet), hearing the stormy sea and just experiencing nature at it's best with no interruptions.

The tour in the grottos is mostly in a closed complex and not under the blazing sun, so you can enjoy a tour in the grottos in a warm sunny day too and groups can also order a night tour (must be booked in advance) as the grottos are lighted.

The complex has free parking on site and next to the registers you can find a souvenir store with variety of cute gifts related to Israel in quite a good prices. At the same complex you can buy food or drink.
