Restaurant review - Pick and Mix market vegetarian cuisine

pick and mix market sigh
I got an invitation to review the new Pick and Mix restaurant in Israel. The restaurant serves in a self-service concept and offers healthy vegetarian food, and also some vegan dishes.

Pick and Mix market are chain restaurants that are located near business and study centers and opened from Sun-Thus from 7:30-19:00.

I went to the restaurant with my sister, and we arrived at rush hour. The place between 12:30-13:00 was very crowded, probably with workers from the nearby buildings.

The place is designed as an elegant and modern mess hall, with long tables and lines waiting to get your food of choice.

pick and mix menu

The menu is quite hard to understand because you don't know what food are you going to eat and what the variety is. However, the restaurant owner Tal Zehavi, said that they are going to change the menu so it will be more friendly for customers.

healthy green shakes

The service is just excellent, and Dvir, who is responsible for making the juices, is praiseworthy for his patience and attentiveness.

Limor, One of the customers who work in the area, says that the crew is really kind and listening and recommends drinking their green shake, which I will write about later on.

The food:
Some of the dishes are served on a regular basis and some change.
Every day, there are different "special of the day" dishes, such as "soup of the day," "casserole of the day," which are made using different vegetables. A great way to diversify your vegetables, grains, and legumes.

The juices we tried were:
Carrot and Orange juice, which was very delicious to my taste and my sister loved it too.

Apple and green leaves, which was nice, but there was a green, probably celery, that was a bit overpowering and wasn't to me and my sister's liking.

And the 4 dishes we had were:
Soup of the day - Yam, potatoes, and zucchinis

The soup was delicious and felt more like a zucchini soup and less of a potato/yam soup.

whole rice and couscous by pick and mix

Whole grain Rice and couscous with chickpeas and root vegetables - I thought it was a nice dish, and my sister, who doesn't really love whole grain rice, loved that dish and would have ordered it again.

quinoa and bulgur casserole by pick and mix

Quinoa and bulgur casserole with chili con soya and black lentils- I thought the dish was really tasty and is just a bit tangy, and my sister didn't like the combo of chili and bulgur.

Bulgur, black lentils, quinoa casserole with root vegetables and mash beans - We thought the dish was just nice.

pick and mix green shake

Green shake -
In daily life, you probably won't find me with a green smoothie, but it was nice.

I probably won't order it again, but it was okay, and my sister prefers her green in their natural form and not as a shake.

In the restaurant, there is also a salad bar with plenty of options, and at a reasonable price, you get a nice big salad with the possibility of adding grains and legumes.

The downside is, to add tuna, egg, or Bulgarian cheese, for example, you'll need to add extra cash.

You can also get vegan baked goods that are brought from a pastry and reheated in place. In my opinion, they are a bit expensive.

Overall:
The restaurant is in its early stages, and it seems as if the crew are willing to hear constructive criticism.
The service is excellent, and the food is filling, nutritious, and delicious.
