The perfect homemade burger

Ashdod is a city full of taste, and it has so much to offer for culinary enthusiasts.
Of course, I didn't know this at first, not until I ran into this beautiful cookbook of the city with a recipe for this luscious burger
for independence day, 4th of July or regular barbecue fiesta.

Before I tell you all you have to know to make the perfect burger, you have to hear what Ashdod has to offer for all you food lovers out there.
In Ashdod, you can find a wide range of communities and cultures so that you can find in it flavors from all over the world: Paris, Italy, India, Ethiopia, China, Spain and even Netherlands, so many ethnicities under one roof (city).

In the "Ashdod - A city full of taste, A culinary journey" Hebrew cookbook by Shichor publication, you can find a variety of recipes from various restaurants in Ashdod, but not just.
In addition, the book contains vital information that will interest travel guides, but also the foodies amongst you that search for new restaurants to give a try and new recipes.
Not all the recipes and restaurants found in the book are kosher, and since I only eat kosher, I focused on that part in the book.

Near every restaurant in the book, you will find information of its whereabouts, opening hours and more (since the book was published in 2017, it is advised to check again for kosherness before booking a place).
Also, you can learn a little about the establishment of the restaurant and its history, as well as a recipe courtesy of the restaurant alongside a photo and a nice little "Just so you know" sections which add interesting culinary details.

Among the kosher restaurants in town, you can find the first Glatt kosher restaurant of Weizman, the Adis Alem restaurant which offers Ethiopian cuisine to commemorate Efrat's mom. Also, you can find The Indian Namaste, Holland fries, Julia restaurant which is considered the Tel Avivian in Ashdod, Tiramisu cafe which behind it stands Niv Rosilio who wants to help those who less fortunate and more.
The cookbook also gives a small glimpse to various local home cooks that offer cooking workshops and enters you to their kitchen with a recipe of their specialty. Beside every home cook, you can find info about her specialty, her cooking motto, and a little tip.

If you're a foodie and culinary enthusiast, you should definitely go and check out Ashdod with its different cuisines and styles of cooking.
And while writing this post, I came across this 2019 nations and taste festival in Ashdod.
It is a festival full of culinary stalls from the best restaurants in the city, alongside a variety of musical performances such as a tribute to the Beatles, Chansons, Greek Buzuki player and more.

The entrance to the festival is free of charge, and it is the perfect chance to try the various cuisines with a cost of only 10 NIS a dish.
The festival will take place on Wednesday-Thursday between the 29-30 of Mya from 6:00-11:00 PM in the Gan Elisheva park in Ashdod (behind West hotel).

And now for the perfect burger recipe that no bbq, 4th of July or any independence day can be celebrated without.
The recipe is based on the recipe of the Two guys on the grill kosher restaurant, from the veteran and preliminary skewers and meatballs makers in Ashdod.
The restaurant offers these patties in a baguette and uses number two ribs with fat that goes through grinding.

The book doesn't provide specific quantities, just like other recipes in the book, so I did as I thought the amounts should be.
Ingredients for 12 patties:
About 1.100 Kilo (2.4 pound) minced meat (The original recipe suggests to use ribs no. 2)
Parsley, generously (at least 1 cup of chopped fresh parsley)
Between 1/2 to 1 tsp. of cumin
1/2 tsp/ salt or According to flavor

Burger buns, Baguettes and variety of salads to complete the taste (tahini, hummus, spice, etc.)

Preparation:
Mix all of the ingredients, really knead well to combine everything.
Form 12 burger patties and cook on the hot plancha for 3.5 minutes on each side or as the desired doneness. Afterward, let the patty rest for 3 minutes and serve in a bun or a baguette with dressings. Enjoy!
*You can, of course, cook the patty on the grill.

**The book was received for a review on the IMTM exhibition.
