חודש בריאות הפה לילדים - Kids dental health month

החודש מציינים את חודש המודעות לבריאות הפה של הילדים בישראל, ומצד אחד ישראל מדורגת במקום ה-5 ב-OECD (ארגון בינלאומי לשיתוף פעולה כלכלי, חברתי וסביבתי ולפיתוח) במספר רופאי השיניים לנפש, אך מצד שני בבריאות הפה לילדים אנחנו מדורגים במקום 19!

This month in Israel we note the oral health awareness for kids, and on one hand Israel is ranked 5 in OECD in the number of dentists per capita, but on the other hand in children's dental health we rank at 19!

9 מתוך 10 ישראלים סובלים מעששת ודלקות חניכיים.

למבוגרים יש כ-12 חורים בממוצע וכמובן שלבעיות שיניים יש קשר ישיר למחלות לב, סכרת ועוד.

ממחקר חדש נחשף כי מחצית מילדי ישראל עד גיל 8 סבלו מחורים בשיניים!

 

The dental health in Israel is worse than in East Asian countries.

9 out of 10 Israelis suffer from caries and gingivitis.

Adults have in average about 12 cavities ad of course dental issues has a direct connection to heart disease, diabetes etc.

A research that was conducted has found that half of the Israeli kids under the age of 8 have suffered from cavities. 

 

 

אז למה בעצם קורה המצב הזה שבו כמות הילדים שסובלים מעששת מאוד גבוהה?

*60% מילדי ישראל מתנגדים לצחצח שיניים ו-43% מההורים פשוט מוותרים להם על הצחצוח.

*כאשר הילדים מצחצחים שיניים, הם לא עושים זאת כמומלץ על ידי רופאי השיניים - 40% לא מצחצחים שיניים פעמיים ביום ו-70% לא מצחצחים במשך 2 דקות בכל פעם.

 

So how do we get to this situation where the amount of kids suffering from caries is vey high?

*60% of the Israeli kids are opposed to brush their teeth and 43% o the parents give up and don't make them brush their teeth.

*When the children are willing to brush their teeth, they do it properly - 40% don't brush twice a day and 70% don't brush 2 minutes each time.

I attended the event of the dental health month for kids and the new Oral-B's electric toothbrush, and Eden Harel and Oded Menashe also attended the event and they told that until recently, their kids haven't brushed their teeth before bed and now after they have received the toothbrush, they make sure to brush their teeth each evening and the time of brushing teeth became something nicer for their kids, than using regular brush.

And really, from a survey that was conducted, 9 out of 10 parents said that it is easier to make the kids brush their teeth with electric toothbrush and 90% of the kids that use electric toothbrush, brush more time.
