I was invited to review the first kosher Brigaderia cafe in Israel, opened in the city of Ra'anana.
The Brigaderia is named after the popular Brazilian sweet "the Brigadeiro." This sweet is the highlight of every Brazilian party that throwing a party without it might not be considered a party at all.

The Brigaderia cafe was founded by Meire Nussbacher, a businesswoman, from the love of sweets and foods that she and her family left in Brazil.
Meire, her husband, and their three children left Sao Paulo, Brazil, two years ago, and migrated to Israel.

Although they left Brazil behind and opened a new chapter in Israel, Meire wasn't ready to give up on the sweet delight.
She wanted to bring the candy with her to Israel, but she wasn't sure how will the Israeli crowd react to the Brigadeiro.

So Meire decided to make the Brigadeiros at home and open a stand in Azrieli mall in Tel Aviv.
At first, people were skeptical and smelled the candy before putting it in their mouth, but soon it became popular, and people started to purchase it in quantities.
They continue working so for a whole year, and eventually decided it is time to expand and opened the first kosher Brazilian coffee store in Ra'anana, Israel.

Since these are Brazilian candy and some of the dishes on the menu are Brazilian dishes, it was only to be expected they will open in that location. Since in Raanana, you can find a large community of Brazilian immigrants.

But the cafe is not addressing only to the Brazilian community. In addition to Brazilian delights, you can enjoy a good coffee, drinks and colorful milkshakes, and a variety of food, starting from salads, pasta, sandwiches, and cakes.

But before we get to the dishes we tried, let's start with the highlight of the place - the Brigadeiro.
The brigadier signifies a military rank, and the brigadeiro candy was born in a propaganda campaign of the brigadier Eduardo Gomez in 1945. The campaign managers wanted to recruit supporters throughout Brazil, so they initiated a meeting.
For those gatherings, they needed refreshments, and since it was in a time of shortage of milk and sugar, they used condensed milk, chocolate, and butter, and that's how the Brigadeiro candy, that is named after the brigadier, was born.

The Brigaderia cafe makes the popular Brazilian brigadeiro dessert from condensed milk that cooks on the heat for 30 minutes with Belgian chocolate, and its texture resembles a very soft toffee.
The Brigadeiros balls come in a variety of flavors, above 20 unique flavors, starting from the classical Belgian chocolate, the famous chocolate candy snacks: kinder Bueno, oreo, Twix, to passion fruit, pistachio and salted caramel.
Each brigadeiro achieves an impressive, colorful, and joyful look, thanks to its colorful sprinkles coating.

brigaderia greenery

Brigaderia coffee shop characterizes in tropical, warm atmosphere with greenery art on the walls and colorful parrots as befits the Amazonas.
The cooks are also from Brazil. And although you can find in here regular local dishes, we came to try the Brazilian recipes.

beautiful-looking brigaderio balls

We started with tastings of the Brigadeiro balls that were served in a round wood platter, that just makes you want to grab one and try it (Regular ball costs: 6 NIS, special ball 9 NIS).
The brigadeiro is sweet, and kids and adults will surely enjoy it. The brigadeiro balls were nice. However, I personally preferred the brigadeiro cake (which is basically made from the same ingredients), that, to me, was perfect. But on that later.

pizza toast dish

After the sweets and a great delicious cup of Joe, we tasted the pizza toast (price: 35 NIS) - a toast with cheese, tomatoes, and oregano with vegetables on the side. A simple yet delicious dish.

We then tried the pao de queijo, the famous Brazilian cheese bread, which is made using tapioca. In a card box boat, you will get 10 units of this delicious salty cheese balls (35 NIS), accompanied by a cream cheese dip.

salty tapioca sao paulo dish

The next course we tried was beautiful on the one hand, but a bit intimidating on the other since it's not something I used too. However, I decided to give it a try anyway and frankly? It was tasty!
Tapioca Sao Paulo dish is filled with lots and lots of Mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, and oregano.
The texture is a bit chewy, but I guess it is due to the amount of cheese and tapioca. Nevertheless, it did not interfere with the taste.

acai with granola and fruit

The Acai Granola is probably more of a breakfast dish (45 NIS). Acai, the well known tropical fruit of Brazil, is served here in a coconut shell alongside granola and fresh fruit.
I never tried this fruit before, and I must say that it was a nice and refreshing dish that reminds of a chilly sorbet.

brigadeiro cake with plenty of sauce

Finally, we tasted the brigadeiro cake. This cake is a chocolate cake that contains the brigadeiro ingredients in it. And as I said, it is just perfect.
It is very sweet, and it's hard to eat more than a few bites, but it is a wonderful, scrumptious indulgent for sweet lovers (25 NIS per slice).

You can come to the cafe, enjoy a fun and pleasant atmosphere and try some of the delicacies of the place or you can come and purchase brigadeiro in a jar or some brigadeiro balls to the road.
Moreover, high tech companies and other companies enjoy pampering their employees with brigadeiros, so if you look to spoil your employees or family, that's a great way.
