הסרט "לאהוב את וינסנט" על ואן גוך לא יותר ממתאים שיוצג באמצעות ציורי שמן, אך השאלה האם זה מתאים לנו?
הוזמנתי לפרימיירת הסרט "לאהוב את וינסנט". סרט העשוי כולו מציורי שמן, 64,000 ציורים ליתר דיוק, שהופקו על ידי 110 ציירים במשך 5 שנים בהשראת ציורים ודיוקנות שצייר ואן גוך בחייו.
לרגל הפרימיירה, הגיעו ארצה שני ציירים מפולין - פיוטר דומיניאק ואנה קלוזה, וציירו במשך 10 שעות את פוסטר הסרט בענק.
הסרט "לאהוב את וינסנט" הוא סרט ביוגרפי העוקב אחר עולמו השנוי במחלוקת של הצייר והאמן וינסנט ואן גוך, שנה לאחר שנטל את חייו בגיל 37.
אביו של ארמנד רולין, דוור מהעיירה ארל שהיה חבר טוב של ואגן גוך, מטיל על בנו שליחות חשובה - להעביר את המכתב האחרון שכתב וינסנט ואן גוך בחייו לאחיו תיאו.
מה שנראה לכאורה כמשימה יחסית פשוטה ונטולת דרמה, פותח בפנינו צוהר לעולם מלא דרמה ומסתורין כשעל הפרק עומדת השאלה: האם ואן גוך נרצח או התאבד?
באמצעות שלל הדמויות שארמנד פוגש במהלך הסרט, והיוו חלק משמעותי מחייו של ואן גוך, אנחנו מגלים עוד קצת על עולמו המורכב של הצייר המתבודד שבחייו לא זכה לראות כל הצלחה.
קטעי פלאשבק בשחור לבן מחזירים אותנו אחורה בזמן לרגעים קריטיים ומשמעותיים שאולי הובילו את הצייר ליטול את חייו או להירצח.
אם מסתכלים על הסרט מפרספקטיבה אומנותית, מדובר בהברקה, אך ממבט של צפייה בסרט, כמו בעולם המוכר לנו , החוויה קצת שונה, לטוב ולרע.
מצד אחד אנחנו מקבלים זווית צפייה שונה מבדרך כלל, זווית אומנותית מרשימה העשויה כולה ממריחות צבעי שמן מאונמצות, ומצד שני אותם מריחות לפעמים מציקות בצפייה.
תחילת הסרט הייתה די איטית ואותם ריצודים הנגרמים בעקבות תזוזת ציורי השמן הצבעוניים, גרמו לי לשקול לעזוב את הקולנוע, כי לי אישית ברמה מסויימת זה היה בלתי נסבל.
ציורי הפלאשבאק בשחור לבן מאידך בכלל לא הפריעו והיו כל כך מוצלחים, שפעמים חשבתי שמדובר ממש באנשים אמיתיים ולא ציורים.
לאט לאט כנראה שמתרגלים לאותם ריצודים, כי עם התקדמות הסרט, הריצודים פחות הפריעו, והסרט אף הוא החל לתפוס תאוצה ונהיה יותר מרתק ומסקרן לגלות מה באמת קרה כאן.
בסוף הסרט מקבלים הצצה קטנה ומרתקת לדיוקנאות שצייר ואן גוך, אותם פגשנו כדמויות בסרט, וכמה עובדות מעניינות, כמו העובדה העגומה שמכל 800 הציורים שואן גוך צייר, הוא זכה למכור רק ציור אחד בחייו.
האם סרט העשוי כולו מציורי שמן מתאים לצפייה כסרט?
הסרט בסופו של דבר היה מאוד מעניין והאנימציה של ציורי השמן הייתה מוצלחת ואף המשחק והרגשות של הדמויות הועברו בצורה מאוד אותנטית ומוצלחת, הן מבחינת צוות השחקנים והן מבחינת ההנפשה.
ולמרות זאת, מבחינתי מדובר בחוויית צפייה שנחמד ומעניין לחוות פעם אחת, אך לא הייתי מעוניינת לחוות זאת שוב.
בשורה התחתונה: הסרט מתאים במיוחד לאוהבי האומנות, אך גם אוהבי המסתורין יהנו מהסיפור המרתק על וינסנט ואן גוך.

I was invited to the premiere of "Loving Vincent" movie. The movies is made entirely out of oil paintings, 64,000 paintings to be exact, produced by 110 painters for a period of 5 years and inspired by Van Gogh's paintings and portraits.
For the premiere, two Polish artists came to Israel - Piotr Dominiak and Anna Cluza and painted for 10 hours the movie's poster in large.
The movie "loving Vincent" is a biographic movie that follows after the controversial world of the painter and artist Vincent Van Gogh, a year after taking his life at the age of 37.
The father of Armand Roulin, a postman from the town of Arles who was a close friend of Vincent, imposes an important mission on his son - pass the last letter of Van Gogh to his brother Theo.
What seems like a simple drama-less mission, opens a hatch to a world full of mystery and drama, when on the agenda is the question: Did Van Gogh commit suicide or got murdered?
Through the variety of characters which Armand meets, and constituted a significant role in Van Gogh's life, we discover a bit more on the complicated world of the reclusive painter that in his life did not live to see any success.
The black and white flashback parts brings us back in time to crucial and meaningful moments that might have led the painter to his dreadful end.

If you look at this from an artistic perspective, it is brilliant, but when watching it as a movie, from the movie world that is known to us, it is a different experience, for better and for worse.
On one hand we get a viewing angle different than usual, an impressive artistic angle all made out of animated smudges of oil paints, but on the other hand those smudges sometimes are a sore to the eyes.
The start of the movie is quite slow and those smudges and jitters caused by the movement of the colorful paintings, made me consider taking an action and leave the theater, because it bothered me in an intolerable way.
The black and white flashbacks however didn't bother me at all and they were so good, that in times it had me thinking if those are real people.
Slowly I guess I got used to the smudges and jitters, because as the film progresses, the jitters less disturbed, and the movie too began to gain momentum and became interesting and intriguing to find out what's really going on here.
At the end you get a tiny interesting glimpses of van Gogh's real portraits, we met as characters in the movie, and a few fascinating facts, like the gloomy fact that out of 800 paintings Van Gogh painted in his life, he managed to sell only 1!
So is a movie made entirely of oil paintings suitable for viewing as a movie?
The film eventually is very interesting and the animation was very successful and even the acting and emotions were transferred in an authentic and successful way, in terms of the cast and the animation.
And still, in terms of viewing experience it is nice and interesting to give it a shot, but I wouldn't be interested experiencing it again.
On the bottom line: This movie especially suitable for art lovers, but mystery fans will enjoy this thrilling story about Vincent Van Gogh.
