Once I reviewed the new sausages by Yehiam, I knew I had to make something different. Not plain microwaved/oven heated hotdogs. So I found the perfect recipe for sausages arranged in a ladder shape on wooden skewers, brushed with sweet red sauce.
I found the recipe for BBQ sausages in the 2018 August issue of BBC good food; however, the recipe contained a lot of sugar, so I decided to make it a bit saner.
Moreover, I replaced and omitted other ingredients from the original recipe, and I got these delicious sweet red sauce glazed sausages. You can make them at home using a plancha grill plate or barbecuing with friends and family on independence day or any other occasion.
Red sauce sausages/recipe: Con Delight, based on bbcgoodfood recipe with changes
I measured using universal cups and spoons
Ingredients:
For the sauce:
1/2 cup low in sugar ketchup
1/2 cup tomato puree
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic crystals powder
1 Tablespoon sweet chili sauce
2 Tablespoon oil
Sausages
Preparation:
1. Mix the sauce ingredients and cook in a pot on medium-high heat for about 2 minutes, mix occasionally.
2. Skewer the sausages on both sides, making a ladder of 6 sausages. If using wooden skewers on the grill, soak the skewers in water before using them (at least 15 minutes).
3. Cook the sausages on a plancha grill or grill on both sides until sausages are warm and browned.
4. Once they are hot and striped, brush them with the sauce, flip and brush again.
5. Let them cook for 1 minute and flip. You can repeat this step.
6. Once done, before serving, brush with the sauce and serve warm (careful). Enjoy!
