לכמה מכם היה דג זהב כשהייתם קטנים? אני חושבת שזו הייתה הנורמה בשנות ילדותי, כשלא כל אחד יכל להרשות לעצמו כלב או חתול, ולכן האופציה הייתה דג זהב.
כמובן שכילדים לא בדיוק ידענו איך לטפל בדג זהב (כמו למשל לא להאכיל אותו יותר מדי), והוא נפח את נשמתו די מהר לצערי.
אקווריום ישראל בירושלים, על שם משפחת גוטסמן, נפתח בדיוק במטרה לחנך אותנו איך לשמור על הים ולהגן על הדגים, האלמוגים ושאר בעלי החיים שבו.
כחלק מהחינוך לשמירה על הים והגנת בעלי החיים, קיים במקום "קיר מחוייבות" המבקש להתחייב למספר כללים לשמירה על הסביבה הימית.
אחרי 8 שנות תכנון ובנייה, בהשקעה של 100 מליון ש"ח, נפתח סוף סוף אקווריום ישראל למבקרים.
מתחם האקווריום משתרע על פני 7000 מ"ר וכיום הוא מאוכלס ב-70% ממה שהולך להיות עם דגים ויצורים ימיים מ-20 מדינות שונות: קניה, פורטוגל, הולנד ועוד.
האקווריום בירושלים, שנבנה על ידי גן החיות התנ"כי, הינו האקווריום הראשון בישראל. הוא היחידי במזרח התיכון והייחודיות שלו מ-יתר האקווריומים בעולם, זו העובדה שהוא מתמקד בים סוף ובים התיכון.
האקווריום מתמקד בסביבה הימית של ישראל ומחולק למגוון גלריות, כאשר בגלריה הראשונה תוכלו לפגוש דגים החיים בכנרת, בים האדום, בים התיכון ובים המלח (שכמובן אין בו דגים):
בתצוגת ים הכנרת תפגשו באמנון הירדן וברקע בתפאורה שעוצבה בהשראת סלעי הבזלת השחורים של רמת הגולן. זוהי התצוגה היחידה של מים מתוקים באקווריום.
בתצוגת הים התיכון תמצאו עיצוב בהשראת קיסריה שחלקיה שקועים במימי הים התיכון.
בתצוגת הים האדום בעיגול באמצע תמצאו דגים האופיינים לאזור ובהם זהרון הדור וזהרון מקרין.
תצוגת ים המלח היא תצוגה יבשה, שבה ניתן ללמוד על ים המלח והבעיות הנובעות מהתייבשותו.
בחלק מהתצוגות האלמוגים הינם מלאכותיים, מכיוון שסביבת המחייה באותו אקווריום אינה מתאימה להם.
בהמשך תוכלו לפגוש תצוגה של חוף הים התיכון, המחולק לחוף הים הסלעי וחוף הים החולי ומה שמתרחש מתחת לפני הים.
גלריית התגליות על שם שרובר מזמינה אתכם להציץ במגוון תצוגות ימיות: בריכה פתוחה עם להקת טריגונים (חתולי ים), סוסוני ים, דג הנראה כמו אבן ומכאן שמו אבנון מגושם ועוד.
בגלריית הים התיכון תוכלו לראות מגוון דגי מאכל, טריגונים וכריש, כאשר בתצוגה מורכבת ממנהרה תת מימית ואולם גדול עם חלון בגובה 5 מטר עם ספות המאפשרות להתרווח ולהנות מהמחזה בכיף.
לאחר מכן, תעברו במסדרון המאפשר לכם לעצור ולצפות בסרט באורך 4 דקות ובו הסברים על תעלת סואץ ובסיומו תגיעו לגלריית הים האדום.
בגלריית הים האדום תוכלו לצפות בשושנונים (דגי ליצן), המוכרים בזכות הסרט נמו, ואם עשיתם שנורקלים באילת, בטח ראיתם איך הם שומרים על שושנת הים והיא מצידה מעניקה להם מסתור.

The Israel Aquarium is a fanastic place, which allows you to enjoy with your family in a closed, air-conditioned area. In the transition from one display to another, you will encounter positions and niches designed for observation and a perfect selfie.
Since it is prohibited to use the flash mode inside the aquarium, because it is harmful to the fish, near some of the niches you will find a switch that says "Selfish" and once turned on, you get the perfect lighting for a selfie.
I highly recommend this amazing experience. We were in the complex around 3 hours, and at the end of the tour, we simply had a small picnic in the seating areas outside of the compound (food is not allowed inside the aquarium).
