I wanted to make something different than usual for lunch. Something that will be easy-to-make and most importantly, delicious and indulging. So I decided to go on a recipe for creamy salmon pasta that is usually served at restaurants around our area.




A scoop of creamy pasta salmon goodness

Pasta is such a simple dish, but even with pasta, you can go wrong. Not once I came across a pasta dish in a restaurant that on the menu sounded so good and on the plate, it looked terrific, but after tasting it, I was really disappointed with it.
Pasta with salmon and cream sauce is a dish that I love trying out in restaurants since it combines two things I really enjoy eating: pasta and salmon. However, it doesn't always deliver, so I decided to try and make a homemade version of creamy spaghetti and salmon.

How to make creamy pasta with salmon?
It is effortless to make, and in about half an hour, you have yourself a great family supper that everyone will want to have extra.
To make this creamy pasta dish, you will need a few essential ingredients: Pasta in every shape you prefer, although I recommend spaghetti or fettuccini since it is just fun to roll a vast amount of spaghetti on a fork and dive in.
Also, you will need frozen salmon fillets that have been thawed or fresh fillets. For an easy fix meal, you'd probably want to go with the skinless fillet fish, but if you couldn't find any or bought the fillets with the skin, then after thawing them, you can quite easily cut the skin using a knife.

If you don't like fish for any reason, you don't have to use the salmon. Although this recipe is called homemade creamy pasta with salmon, you can omit the fish, and the flavor would still be so good. The only thing you might need to do is call this dish - Thick and creamy pasta dish :-)

In addition to other small ingredients that add flavor (red onion, garlic, salt, and pepper), one of the star ingredients in this dish is the double cream. I don't know if people might have told you that to make a good rich, creamy pasta, you need to use double or heavy cream, but if they did, then they are completely wrong.

Although I love scrumptious sweets, I do try and combine good and a bit more healthy recipes at home, and for the blog, and on this recipe of pasta with a creamy sauce, I used a low-fat cooking cream with only 10% fat. And if talking tastewise? It was amazing!!

So if you're looking for a quite reasonable and dietetic pasta dish with a cream sauce and salmon, then you ought to try this recipe.

Ingredients for 4-5 portions:
500-gram spaghetti or fettucini
1 Tbsp. olive oil
3 medium-small red onions, sliced
4 frozen minced garlic cloves
4 salmon fillets, rinse thoroughly, and if you bought with the skin then take the skin off and cut into cubes
500 ml (around 17 US fluid ounce) low-fat cooking cream (10%)
1 tsp. salt or according to your flavor
black pepper, according to your taste (I used just under a 1/8 tsp.)
Chopped parsley, for serving

Preparation:
Cook the pasta according to the package, just skip the salt part and cook without salt in the water. Once done cooking, drain from water.
While the pasta is cooking, preheat oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic on medium-low heat for about 4 minutes. Mix occasionally.

Add the cooking cream, salmon cubes, salt, and pepper. Mix and turn the heat up a bit. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the salmon is ready.
During the cooking, the sauce will thicken. If you try to taste the sauce, it will be too salty, but that's good. We need it to season a whole lot of pasta after all.
Turn the heat off once done and pour over the pasta. Transfer onto serving plates and garnish with parsley and if you really want with grated parmesan (this is really not needed).
