Cake pops on lollipop sticks

Cake pops are those chocolate lollipops on a stick that come in various colors and designs that everyone loves. To make this chocolate cake pop recipe, you don't need any cake pops maker or special equipment.
All you need is a creative spirit and a bit of patience until the cake pops are set.

The cake pops were invented by Angie Dudley, also known as Bakerella. They are, in fact, little cakes on a stick, that use as perfect sweet treats for any dessert table at a birthday party.
You don't need to order cake pops online for your next party or family gathering. You can make it on your own using simple ingredients and sparkling touches.

You can make your cake pops using vanilla cake or as I did by using a fudgy, moist brown cake.
To make the perfect balls, some people use a designated mold or cake pop maker. However, you can make excellent round cake pops that are close to perfection manually.
I made my cake pops without any unique mold. And to keep their round shape, I placed them on a silicone mold with hemisphere cavities.

I decorated my cake pops using the products of the British company - Quality Sprinkles that I collaborate with on this post. You can sprinkle the decorations freely as seen on the video, or you can add a personal touch and make cute little cake pop guys with cool sprinkley, colorful hair.

Quality Sprinkles products are all made with 100% natural ingredients, does not contain soy, gluten, dairy products, and are non-GMO.
I used in this recipe three of their products: blue pearlized nonpareils, purple pearlized jimmies, and red shimmering sugar crystals.
The three products are kosher, halal, and vegan. They do not contain any soy, nuts, dairy products, hydrogenated fat, gluten, and are no GMO, and of course, they are all made of natural components!

You can also make cake pops in a slacker way by using store-bought cake, or you can call it more nicely - "don't have time to spare" version.
So how do you make cake pops when time is against you? Take a store-bought cake, crumble it and add any cream of your choice, whipping cream or a sweet spread and knead until you have a dough you can make cake balls. Then continue as the regular recipe below.
Of course, you still have some work, but you saved a lot of time by not making a cake batter, waiting for it to bake and chilled.

A few points for making delicious-looking cake pops:
1. It is essential to let the cake pops freeze well. Five hours in the freezer will yield a much stable cake pops, but giving them more time is even better.
2. After creating the cake balls, stick a lollipop stick inside and place them on a round surface to keep their shape. You can leave them on a flat surface, but they will lose a bit of their circular form.
3. Especially in summer days, it is crucial to work with one cake pop at a time, two max. It is essential to dip the cake pops in the melted chocolate when the cake pop is frozen. Thus the coating hardens quickly, and the cake pop is stable and won't fall off its stick.
4. Glitters, sparkles, and other decorations are added once most of the coating has hardened.
5. After making the first step where you freeze the cake pops, you can wait with the coating for more than a week. So there is no pressure, and you can take your time whenever you have the time and will to coat them.
Once you are ready for the next phase of coating and decorating, take one or two at a time and let the celebration of color begin by coating and sprinkling :-)

Ingredients for 12 cake pops:
100-gram butter (3.5 oz.)
100-gram bittersweet chocolate (3.5 oz.), broken to pieces
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
2 L eggs

1 1/2 Tbsp. hazelnut spread like Nutella or another favorite

Coating:
About 250-gram white chocolate (8.8 oz.)
Purple Pearlized jimmies by Quality Sprinkles
Red Sugar Crystals by Quality Sprinkles
Blue Pearlized nonpareils by Quality Sprinkles

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 180C/356F, turbo.
2. Melt the chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl, until the mixture is unified. Melt in intervals of about 20 seconds each and mix after each activation.
3. Once the mixture is blended, add in the sugar, flour, and eggs and mix well. Transfer to a 30X30cm (about 12X12 inch) pan or another large pan.
The goal, when baking in a large pan, is to save time in baking. The larger the pan, the less time you will need to bake it.
I baked in a 30X30cm pan for about 15 minutes. Bake until a toothpick inserted to the middle of the cake comes out clean or with a few wet crumbs. The cake comes out fudgy and moist.
4. Once done baking, let the cake cool outside.
5. Crumble the cake.
6. Add the hazelnut spread and knead well. You will get a dough that can be shaped easily into balls.
7. Take the dough and form into balls in the desired size.
8. Place each ball on a cavity in the silicone mold.
9. Stick a lollipop stick inside each ball and freeze for at least 5 hours.
10. Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in intervals of 15 seconds each. You should mix after each activation, to prevent the chocolate from burning.
11. Work with one to two cake pops at a time - dip or pour on the cake pop the melted chocolate and shake excess chocolate.
12. Once the chocolate hardens almost entirely, decorate with the glitters.
13. Stick each cake pop on styrofoam or place inside a small cup to let it set completely.
14. Keep in the freezer in an airtight container or a ziplock. When the time comes, and you want to eat one, take it 5-10 minutes before serving.
