Cooking healthy with Knorr including tips for parents & recipes

I was invited to a healthy cooking workshop for kids with Knorr, which included a cooking tutorial and lectures about being an effective parent and how to make healthy food be appealing to kids.

Knorr has launched a new product called "Bread crumbs -  for baking schnitzel in the oven". The new product doesn't contain any preservatives or MSG.

We started the workshop with a lecture from Psychotherapist Anabella Shaked, which explained to us what is an effective parent.

She said that parents are good, but that doesn't mean they are effective.

Every parent wants the best for his kids, wants them to have self-esteem, and be healthy and independent.

If the parent doesn't give the kid the chance to overcome struggles, such as shyness or lack of confidence, the parent isn't effective because he doesn't help their kid confront their problems, rather than taking the easy way and calling one of the parents.

So how can you make yourself be an effective parent?

First of all, let your kids feel that they are loved and do help.
Tell them how was your day, so they'll know that you also matter, and they are not the center of the world.

One of the ways making them feel wanted and helping is by cooking with them. They will feel beneficial, capable, close to you, and have self-discipline.

Then we heard from the dietitian and epidemiologist Udi Barkan, who taught us that when eating healthy, you should use Strong tastes from different dried and fresh herbs, Vinegar, and oils and also try and reduce the salt and sugar.

It is very important for kids to eat something with texture, taste good, and appeal to them.

We tried making some healthy dishes and one of the dishes that was really tasty, in my opinion, was the veggies with seasoning and the new product of Knorr.

I'm going to give you the recipe that I enjoyed the most from the workshop and a recipe I've created on my own.

The first recipe is by Udi Barkan - Krispy pumpkin and zucchini in tahini and seasoning

Ingredients:
10 sliced zucchinis
1 kg sliced pumpkin (2.204 pounds)
1 cup raw tahini
1 Tbsp. honey
1/2 cup water
1 cup finely chopped mint leaves
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp. dried hyssop (za'atar)
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
juice from two lemons and lemon zest

100-gram sesame (3.527 ounces)

Preparation:
Preheat oven to grill.
Mix the tahini with the rest of the ingredients, except the veggies, the bread crumbs, and sesame.
In a different bowl, mix the sesame with the bread crumbs.
Mix the veggies in the sauce and then dip in the bread crumbs mixture.
Place in a pan covered with a parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes.

The second recipe that I have created is Corn pie:

Ingredients:
Filling:
550 gram canned corn (19.4-ounce weight before straining)
3 Tbsp. flour
1 L egg
1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
3 Tbsp. Knorr sweet chili sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Dough:
50-gram butter-flavored Mazola needs to be a bit soft (1.763 ounces)
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup water

Crust:
about 1/4 package of Knorr schnitzel bread crumbs for the oven.

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 180C/356F, turbo.
In the food processor, mix the butter with the flour and salt.
Add the water and mix to form chunks of dough.
Take the dough and gather it into a smooth dough.
Roll it on a parchment paper into a rectangular to match the size of a pan (27X18X7cm).
Place in the pan and Mix in a different bowl the filling ingredients.
Place in the pan and sprinkle with the bread crumbs.
Don't add many bread crumbs, because they have a very strong seasoning.
Bake for about 45 minutes and enjoy it.
