I wanted to make grilled chicken as I remembered from my childhood, but I don't think I got there just yet. So instead, I present to you this delicious homemade recipe of oven-baked chicken that is really that good.
I have many oven-baked chicken recipes on my blog, and it's getting harder and harder to name them, but no matter the name, they are all so tasty.
And, of course, you can make this a whole meal with potatoes and yam served on the side, which I explain how to make precisely in the recipe below.
Easy-fix oven-baked chicken/recipe: Con Delight
I measured using universal cups and spoons
Ingredients:
Chicken parts (thighs, drumsticks, wings)
1 Tablespoon paprika
1/2 Tablespoon onion powder
1/2 Tablespoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons salt or according to flavor
1 Tablespoon pure date syrup (AKA silan) or honey
1/4 cup olive oil
Preparation:
1.Preheat oven to 200C/392F on the mode you usually bake chicken.
2.Mix the seasoning ingredients: spices, olive oil, and honey/silan.
3.Rinse the chicken and pat dry using a paper towel.
4.Place the chicken parts on a pan.
5.If you want vegetables like potatoes and yam, it is essential to place them in a different tray than the chicken. Otherwise, they will get soggy from the chickens' liquids. So peel the vegetables, slice as you wish, and place them on a separate pan.
6.Spread the sauce on the chicken and the vegetables—no need to use it all.
7.Cover the pans with baking paper and aluminum (I use the baking paper only so that the aluminum won't touch the food directly out of health reasons).
8.Bake an hour covered.
9.Then, take the covers off. Increase oven's heat to 260C/500F (or to the max range, but not higher than 260C/500F - no need to wait for the oven to heat up). Continue baking for extra 10-15 minutes, and that's it. That extra time will give the chicken that crunchiness and beautiful color it needs, so don't skip this.
10. You can bake this chicken in under an hour. How exactly? Preheat the oven to 220C/428F. Prepare the chicken as usual and bake uncovered for 50 minutes. The vegetables will need only about 20-25 minutes. Enjoy!
