How do you make a Mickey Mouse birthday cake? Easily! Prepare chocolate muffins and shape them as Mickey's face. You can find the full recipe in the post ahead.

I made this whimsical Disney's all-time-favorite Mickey Mouse cake using my favorite chocolate cake base. The chocolate cake is moist, and you can make with it many beautiful cakes, from a simple chocolate glazed cake with sprinkles to layer cakes like the one I made before of a heart-shaped chocolate cake.

I made this recipe a while ago. To celebrate Mickey's 92 birthday, I decided to find the time and write the recipe on my blog. I hope you'll enjoy it :-)

Mickey Mouse muffins cake/recipe: Con Delight
I measured using universal cups and spoons
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose white flour, sifted
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder, sifted
1 cup of water
1/2 cup oil
3 L eggs

Frosting:
3 cups whipping cream (heavy/double cream)
1/2 cup instant vanilla pudding

For decoration:
Oreo cookies, finely crushed
50% dark chocolate
Oreo cookie, for the nose

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 160C/320F, turbo (fan mode).
Mix the dry ingredients of the cake: flour, baking powder, sugar, and cocoa. Add in the wet ingredients: oil, water, and eggs, and mix well. Transfer to paper liners (muffin liners). You'll get more than 30 muffins. It depends on the size of the muffin liner you use. I believe I used no. 4. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the muffin comes out clean, around 20-30 minutes.

Once baked, take out of the oven and let cool completely.
Meanwhile, make the whipped cream: whip the cream and instant vanilla to form a unified, stable cream.

And now make Mickey Mouse:
Work on a surface you want to serve the cake. Start arranging the muffins in the shape of Mickey's head. I worked with Mickey's drawing next to me so that I can shape it accordingly.

Once you arranged the muffins, now is the time to frost them. Cover the muffins with an even layer of cream. This way, it may seem like we created a large cake. It is much convenient to spread the cream with a cake palette.

And decorate:
Sprinkle the crushed Oreos on Mickey's face. Only in the parts that should be black.
Take an Oreo cookie and, using a ring, cut its edges, making an ellipse. Place the cookie where the nose should be. Don't worry if the cookie breaks a bit, as we will cover it with melted chocolate.

Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. As always, melt in 20-30 seconds intervals each time, so you don't burn the chocolate. After each activation, mix the chocolate (even if it doesn't look like it needs it).

Let the chocolate cool a bit, and then transfer to a piping bag with a tiny hole. Start piping Mickey's face. And also paint his nose with chocolate. To emphasize Mickey's face, you can draw his face with the chocolate as well (see photo).
Enjoy!
